"The upper class of Loxford cannot settle on a suitable ‘May Queen’, and instead choose to crown a ‘May King’ – they decide to bestow the honour upon young Albert Herring, the greengrocer’s son. May Day finally arrives and Nancy is setting up for the Feast, and her lover Sid has hatched a plan to make mischief. He spikes Albert’s lemonade with rum, and as the upper class of Loxford shower Albert with gifts and make toasts in his name, Albert drains the glass. The next morning Albert is missing, and his Mother is distraught. Nancy is concerned for Albert’s safety, and filled with regret and shame."
Natalie graduated from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She was the recipient of British Youth Opera’s 2018 Basil A Turner Prize for her performance as Hermia in the European premiere of Jeremy Sams’ ‘The Enchanted Island’ and returned to the company in 2019 to play Tisbe in Rossini’s ‘La Cenerentola’. Other recent highlights include Queen of the Fairies in ‘Iolanthe’ for Charles Court Opera, Mozart’s Requiem at Snape Maltings and the final of the Isobel Buchanan Awards. This summer Natalie was looking forward to playing the role of Nancy in Albert Herring for St Pauls Opera, before joining the National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company to play Edith in ‘Pirates of Penzance’ and Angela in ‘Patience’. However with the advent of Covid-19 she has instead spent summer thus far on a farm in mid-Wales befriending dogs and baking.
