The Australian tenor, Paul Ferris, performed an enormous number of operatic roles with Opera Australia during his two decade association with the national company. His roles covered the complete gamut of musical and dramatic styles with a voice and technique to match his versatility of genre. He is heard here with Joan Sutherland in a performance of Donizetti's LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR from the Palais Theatre in Melbourne. They are captured in the entrance of Edgardo to the conclusion of Act I - "Egli s'avanza...La vicina soglia io cauta veglierò ... Sulla tomba che rinserra ... Verranno a te sull'aure". The few phrases of Alisa are sung by Rosina Raisbeck and the orchestra is conducted by Richard Bonynge in this performance from November 8th, 1980.
