Kun lidt jeg ejer i Verden. ( I got plenty o' Nutting - " Banjo Song " ). Performed by opera singer Einar Nørby and the Danish opera choir -, one of the very great Danish opera singers at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark. Det Kgl. Kapel conducted by Johan Hye-Knudsen. Recorded in Copenhagen 1943.

In 1935 George Gershwin composed his famous opera "Porgy and Bess". He ordered this opera only to be performed by negros. In 1936 the American opera singers Anne Brown and Todd Duncan performed "Porgy and Bess" for the very first time. In 1943, the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark, wanted to show "Porgy and Bess". Via the Royal Danish Embassy in Sweden, Ira Gershwin gave his permission, that this opera for the very first time was allowed being performed by white people. Porgy and Bess was one of the greatest successes at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen during the German occupation of Denmark 1940-45. Else Brems and Einar Nørby played the main rolls in the Danish performance of Porgy and Bess.

Libretto/Lyrics/Text/Testo:

Oh! Son pieno di niente,
e niente abbonda per me.
Niente auto, niente mulo,
ma neppure miseria.
La gente che ha tutto
mette catenacci alla porta.
Hanno paura che qualcuno venga a derubarli
mentre son fuori a far soldi.
E perchè mai?
Io non uso catenacci
(nè potrei farlo)
possono rubarmi pure lo zerbino.
Per me è O.K.,
dato che le cose che apprezzo
come le stelle in cielo
son tutte libere.
Oh! Son pieno di niente
e niente abbanda per me,
ho la ragazza, ho una canzone,
ho il paradiso tutto il giorno!
Perchè lamentarsi?
Ho la mia ragazza, il mio Signore, la mia canzone.
