There are many on youtube who think Guiseppe Giacomini is one of the great dramatic tenors of our time,i wanted to compare him to two of the greatest dramatic tenors of last century.
Giacomini was a fine tenor with many wonderful attributes, however, he had many faults, he was definitely not in he same class as Del Monaco or Caruso.
Giacomini sings with a depressed larynx, which muffles his sound, it inturn creates a constricted, woofy production that is rigid especially at certain tessituras, his voice is also somewhat ingolata (in the throat). Giacomini doesn't have the same darkness(scuro) as the other two tenors. Scuro comes from a low larynx. A correctly positioned low larynx has freedom from constriction and tongue depression,it allows the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles of the larynx to work unabated.
Del Monaco and Caruso sing with beautiful freedom and muscular coordination, their voices have a wonderful balance of chiaro(bright) scuro(dark) and maintain this equally throughout their range. Caruso is of course the true tenor master, even though he had such large instrument he displays this mastery easily with the expressive dynamics of his tone.
