Je veux vivre (Juliet's Waltz)

What can one say? This electrical re-recording of the Waltz from Gounod's Romeo and Juliet doesn't approach Galli-Curci's bejeweled 1917 acoustic recording. Her waning breath control is quite audible here and her usually beautiful phrasing is almost absent. At times, she sounds as if she simply doesn't care. This almost sounds like a warm-up or rehearsal, rather than a serious attempt at a usable take. Small wonder this record was not issued at the time. Still, a poor Galli-Curci recording (there aren't many) is better than none at all! Victor recording, December 13, 1928.
