Regina Pacini (1871 - 1965) sings Der Hölle Rache from Mozart's opera die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute). This is the popular "Queen of the Night aria".

I had some trouble determining the proper speed to upload this. I went with a slower speed, guessing that this was recorded as a transposition. Speeding this up so that she sings in the standard pitch leads to a chaotic performance with a robotic voice.

Recorded in Milan around 1904-6 and sang in Italian. Fonotipia 39212.

Zertrümmert alle Bande der Natur,
Wenn nicht durch dich Sarastro wird erblassen!
Hört Rache, - Götter! - Hört der Mutter Schwur.

Sie versinkt.

QUEEN OF THE NIGHT
My heart is seething with hellish vengeance,
death and despair are blazing around me!
Unless Sarastro feels the pangs of death at your hands
you are no longer my daughter.
Forever disowned, forever abandoned,
forever destroyed may all ties of nature be,
unless Sarastro dies at your hands!
Hear! Gods of vengeance! Hear a mother's vow!

She gives Pamina the dagger and disappears.
