The excellent Australian tenor, Thomas Edmonds, began his singing studies in Australia in 1960 and, in 1970, continued both singing and education studies in England and Europe. His operatic roles, both in Australia and internationally (including performances at the Royal Opera Covent Garden and the Edinburgh Festival and much concert work for the BBC) included the full gamut of musical styles from Baroque to the most modern compositions - along with operetta, Gilbert & Sullivan and musicals. Edmonds won eight successive "Showcase" TV series Grand Finals (beginning with "Showcase 68"), in which he won both the judges' vote and the television viewers' vote. He received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1982 and was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 1987 Queen's Birthday Honours. He is heard here as Tito in Mozart's LA CLEMENZA DI TITO in a concert performance in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House on January 8th, 1988.
