Giovanni Martinelli enjoyed a career in the recording studio that lasted from 1912 until 1968...an amazing fifty six years. As the tenor himself said a few weeks before his death, "I am probably the only artist to have made acoustic records, electric records, long playing records and, finally, stereo long playing records!" This ultra rare recording of Rinuccio's aria, "Firenze come un albero fiorito" from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, is one of Martinelli's later efforts, made in 1965 when the tenor was 80 years of age.
