Grace Moore - Entrance of Butterfly ("Ancora un passo or via")

Singer: Grace Moore

Click for higher quality audio/video:
Grace Moore sings "Ancora un passo or via" from Puccini's "Madama Butterfly." I don't know who the other singers are; it was recorded for a scene in her 1934 picture "One Night of Love."

This is another one I'm not sure about the pitch on. On the recording the way I got it, her final note was D5 but I'm pretty sure it's written as Db5. I don't know if she transposed it or not but I had to lower the pitch a bit. My head was spinning after listening to that note loop for over a minute; I'm not going to worry about it any more after that. And please forgive me for my rather crude job colorizing this photo but still it's a little more interesting than black and white!

LE AMICHE
Ah! ah! ah! ah!
Ah! Quanto cielo! Quanto mar!

Quanto cielo! Quanto mar!

BUTTERFLY
interno
Ancora un passo or via.

LE AMICHE
Come sei tarda!

BUTTERFLY
Aspetta.

LE AMICHE
Ecco la vetta.
Guarda, guarda quanti fior!

BUTTERFLY
serenamente
Spira sul mare e sulla terra
un primaver il soffio giocondo.

LE AMICHE
Quanto cielo! Quanto mar!

SHARPLESS
O allegro cinguettar di gioventù!

BUTTERFLY

Quanti fior! Quanto mar!
Quanto cielo! Quanti fior!
mira quanto cielo, quanti fiori, quanto mar!...
appaiono in scena hanno tutte grandi ombrelli aperti, a vivi colori

BUTTERFLY
alle amiche
Siam giunte.
B.F. Pinkerton. Giù!
si genuflette

LE AMICHE
chiudono gli ombrelli e si genuflettono
Giù!
Tutte si alzano e si avvicinano a Pinkerton cerimoniosamente.
