Rosenkavalier, Baron Ochs: Da lieg ich; Ohne mich - Mihály Székely

Singer: Mihály Székely

Mihály Székely sings Da lieg ich from the Rosenkavalier. Probably no one have ever sung so deep tunes with such a bright and strong trimble. His register spanned from A1 to G4. When Simándy sang with Székely for the very first time, it was in Don Carlos. Székely intoned "O guardie, disarmato Ei sia" and Simándy was so astonished by the voice that he forgot his role for a moment and did not reply. He wrote in his memoires that this voice was rolling along like a deep river, it was astonishing to hear from close.
