The excellent Australian baritone, John Pringle's career with Opera Australia lasted four decades. He was a valued member of the company, an audience favourite and a profoundly wonderful musician. He is heard here early in his career as Don Carlo in Verdi's LA FORZA DEL DESTINO - the scene in Act Three "Morir! Tremenda cosa! ... Urna fatale del mio destino ... Egli è salvo! Gioia immensa". His onstage colleagues in this performance from the Elizabethan Theatre, Newtown, Sydney September 2nd, 1972, were the great Italian tenor, Umberto Borsò, Australian soprano, Elizabeth Fretwell, Donald Shanks and Suzanne Steele. Orchestra is conducted by Gerald Krug.
