Roberto Alagna sings this aria of love and desire from I Lombardi, Act II, Claudio Abbado conducting the Berliner Philharmoniker. Verdi later rewrote this aria for the Paris Opera as "Je veux encor entendre". The role was made larger, and a high C was added (evidently not usual in Verdi) specifically for the opera's leading tenor, Gilbert Duprez.
