Ugo Donarelli Dobici (1888—Feb 17, 1962). Studied with Antonio Cotogni at Santa Cecilia in Rome. Early career in the provincial theaters of Italy. Circa 1920 toured South America as part of company under Serafin. While singing in London in the early 1920s, he made a number of solo discs (as well as some duets with tenor Nicolas Fusati) under the Velvet Face series of J.E. Hough's Edison Bell Company.
An anti-fascist, he left Mussolini's Italy, relocating to Madrid, Spain, where in October 1934 he founded Fono España, the first studio to produce Spanish-language voice dubbing of Fox/Paramount/Warner Bros. and other Hollywood films. Here and at Estudios ChamartÃn he worked the rest of his life as a technical director of sound, editing, synchronization and the like.
